Chris shifted feet and then jerked his thumb towards the hall. "I'm gonna cop a smoke out here, but you can leave the door open. Just yell if you need me for anything."
He didn't really need a smoke, but he figured there was stuff they might want to say that they wouldn't with him standing there.
As he sat on the top step of the landing he thought to himself that it was some fucked up shit when everybody fell for the same guy, who was fucked in the head himself. Head, he chuckled, the guy that took off must give some great head if everyone wanted him. You never see that kinda shit on General Hospital, which he was missing right now. Thank god for TiVo. He'd catch it after his shift instead. He twisted back around to see a glimpse of the Amy chick. Yeah, she'd looked great naked, no way around that. He chuckled again to himself.

Amy shrugged in response to Rave's thanks for her assistance with the cut, "You're welcome. I'm sorry I wasn't as sympathetic as I could have been."
From the relative safety of her spot near Devon's door Amy watched Rave as he read the note. He seemed to be reading it with deliberate care and she couldn't help but feel that he was not reading it for the first time. It was to be expected, but she felt that she should have been the one to read it first, it being addressed to her.
"None of us is strong." Amy replied to his admitting that he was not strong, "If we were, would any of us be here?"
Amy continued to look at Rave, trying to assess how much of a threat he was. He clearly had a serious temper but whether that translated into physical violence was unknown.
"I don't intend throwing you out of your home." Amy replied quietly, having no reason to believe that it was anything less than his home as much as Devon's. There was a hint of nervousness, conveying the fact that she was not sure of her decision but although she may have felt a little safer without him, she was confident that it would not do her any favours with Devon if she did ask Rave to leave. She knew she had caused enough trouble turning up unannounced and then giving into temptation without adding further complications to the situation.

Rave looked down at his thumb again while he lowered his hand to his side then shrugged somewhat.
"The way I came on, I dunn blame yoah.."
He replied and sighed somewhat. The not was still in his left hand while he glanced to the table and the money there, why hadn't she taken them? A slight frown appeared, most people would take them without question why didn't she? Rave looked up at Amy again when she confessed she wasn't strong either.
"mmh... good point I s'pose..."
He said with a slight grin while still moving very slowly as if he didn't want to scare the hare that stood before him, ready to flee by the smallest flick of an eye or glance of a sharp tooth.
When Amy said that she didn't intended to throw him out of his home, Rave relaxed a bit and his shoulders slumped even if it was only a little.
"Than yoah... bu' like I said, of yoah dunn wanta trust me, I 'ave anotha place to go fo' a few days.."
He repeated then took two steps to the right and reached the living room table and sat down on the edge of it with a sigh, leaning his elbows on his knees and lowered his head so he could run his hand over the back of his neck with a deep sigh.
"I'm protectin' Devon from alo' of things he doesn't even know about yoah know... Things tha' isn't his concern bu' things tha' still involve him even tho I want' them no' to... I've given up so much for him tha' yoah wouldn't even believe me if I told yoah... bu' the thing is, Devon's safe an' tha's wha's important..."
Rave said with honest care about the man he had as a roommate. His left hand moved to his right shoulder and rubbed the shoulder by the collarbone and over the muscle, a sign Devon had come to know as worry and mental stress just by reading him when he did it.
He couldn't help but to think back on what he had given up to protect his friend, his personal vengeance which he'd wanted ever since he was five years old, now he was to be 19 in a few months and he felt that his personal vendetta had slipped out of his hands, but, by choice to save his friend. Rave couldn't help but somewhat sink into his own mind for a moment or two, staring at the floor while he did.

Amy sighed when Rave reiterated that he had somewhere else to go. She accepted it in the classroom but she didn't like having to repeat herself to people who were passing themselves off as adults.
"I've told you...." There was a bit of exasperation in her tone. Amy didn't bother completing the sentence.
Having spoken of protecting Devon, Rave made what appeared to Amy to be a nervous gesture but she attacked anyway or perhaps it was that she thought he was vulnerable that she felt able to attack.
"Protecting or controlling? Most people... and governments for that matter, are actually attempting to control when they say they are protecting." She was attacking but the words were softly spoken. Amy used the same soft tone as she continued, "And exactly what are you protecting him from?"

Rave gave Amy a quirk of an eyebrow. He knew very well that he had repeated himself but he at least wanted to give her the option a second time just to make sure her mind was set. It was the way he had been taught to do in the RAR meetings.
"It's the way I'm taught okay.."
He muttered then frowned and somewhat gave her a glare when she started to talk about controlling or protecting. Was that an insult or what?! Rave snorted and managed to choke a sneer at her and closed his eyes for a moment while hearing Chris' words in his head. "She doesn't know you, she doesn't know your history or your and Devon's past. She's innocent".
Rave sighed with a controlled inhale and exhale before he looked up at her again. His storm blue eyes watched her for a moment before he managed to answer, yet again with a forced calm this time but at least he was trying, right?
"I'm protectin' him, okay..."
He could see that Amy didn't believe him and he groaned somewhat before he rose from the table he had been sitting on and looked her dead in the eyes before he looked away again and slumped his shoulder in a way that showed he caved and was to tell her bits of it. He turned his back on her, somewhat facing the kitchen but not quite.
"... a few months ago. My old man came 'ere to kick my ass fo' bein' the bad boy of the family basically. I've always been a disgrace no mattah wha' I've done, despite my music talents, despite my artistic talents in general. I did some things to ge' even with him bu' I didn't expect him to react the way he did... well, no' quite as I had expected him to anyway..."
Rave paused a bit in his story and wrapped his arms around his chest and looked towards the kitchen and the open door, he knew Chris was still out there and he could call him any time he needed some aid but he felt rather collected at the moment, despite the slight flare of anger off and on. A rather nasty scar showed by his neck and down towards his right shoulder that was in the size of two fingers in width. It didn't show much but enough to tell that the scar had to be rather big and made by something large even though it didn't really tell the tale of what really happened except for the fact the scar looked older than a few months.
"To tell the storeh shortleh. My dad flew ovah from Britain, kicked my ass badly, an' I ended up in the 'ospital fo' a month. I'm healed on the outside bu' not completely on the inside.."
He told her, now letting his eyes fall to the floor in front of him while telling more of the story.
"... Devon basicalleh kicked my dad's ass an' real good too, saved my life he did. Bu' the lawsuit tha' my dad threatened Devon with aftah it was clear tha' my dad wouldn't be walkin' again due to severe back injuries, is layin' heavy on Devon and I keep him safe by lettin' somethin' very important to me, go just to save him from tha' lawsuit. I'm doin' it fo' him, Fo' Devon."
Rave turned around and looked Amy dead in the eyes again with a flare of frustration and anger but not directed at her but at the memory he had just told about even though he left most of the stuff out.
"So yeah.. I'm protectin' him."

"You are not making any sense." Amy accused Rave at one point, though she didn't interrupt him again.
When it came down to it, Amy just did not want to believe that Devon was capable of beating someone up, even under extreme provocation.
"I'll believe you if Devon corroborates your story." Amy replied to Rave's last assertion that he was protecting Devon. She had no intention of giving him the benefit of the doubt as she added, "It still sounds like you are trying to control him."

Rave sighed and hung his head a bit. She still didn't believe him did she? Talk about being stubborn. Why did Devon surround himself with stubborn people? So frustrating. He shook his head and groaned somewhat.
"Fine.. yoah ask him abou' tha' bu' please make me a favor and don't tell him abou' the lawsuit, okay?... he doesn't need to know tha' ... Tha's the only thing I ask. My dad is a fuckin' nasty piece of shit tha' yoah dunn wanta mess with... if Devon hadn't come when he did... I wouldn't be sittin' here right now... I'd be six feet undah..."
He admitted. Amy hadn't seen how badly he'd been beaten or knew that he'd spent a month in hospital while healing from several injuries, broken bones and a pierced lung due to broken ribs and a lot of other things. He hadn't even been able to speak for a good while since he'd hurt his windpipe but that was beside the point.
"I'm not controlin' him! God damn it! ... women..."
He snorted the last part and grabbed his hair with both hands and tugged it a bit and closed his eyes again. Listen to the clock on the wall, breathe with it. Calm your senses, Chris is just outside if he was needed. Breathe, she was protecting herself, she didn't trust him naturally. It's her right not to trust a stranger. Breathe, don't cage the bird when you're a lion in the way... it can pick your eyes out if cornered too narrow.
With a slow exhale he opened his eyes to look at the floor just by his feet but didn't say anything more to her. She was seriously testing his limit and a part of him started to wonder if she did it on purpose or not.

"I will make up my own mind whether it is appropriate to tell Devon about the alleged lawsuit." Amy replied a little more forcefully than she had intended. Perhaps it was because she was tired but she couldn't be bothered apologising.
Suddenly the length of time since she had last slept caught up with her and for a moment her vision burred and she thought she might faint. The dizziness passed but the weakness and tiredness did not.
"I'm going to bed for a while." She announced.
"I would apprecia...." Amy decided not to complete the sentence. She could imagine that Rave would take a request to be careful about the amount of noise he made as a challenge to make as much as he could.
"I will be in Devon's room" Amy spun on her heels and pushed open Devon's door.
A thought struck her. Turning to face Rave again she demanded, "And what would you know about women boy?"

"Fine.. wha' evah...I shouldn't have trusted yoah enough to tell yoah about tha' anyway..."
Rave sighed and closed his eyes. Why on earth had he even told Amy this in the first place? There was no reason for him to do it but, on the other hand. He was a bit over the place anyway.
Rave just waved her off when she said she'd go to bed. If he had the feeling about her, she'd go to Devon's bed for that and not on the couch anyway and his suspicious was confirmed when she eventually said so too. Great.
The last remark she threw at him made him rise from the table and walk out in the room so he could see her better before she went into the room.
"I know quite a bit more than yoah think about women. I'm far away from virgin an' I've had relationships as well as hearin' about otha's... I'm not as dumb as yoah make me sound in yoah own head. Miss Teacha tha' can't keep her fingers of a student."
Rave snorted and shook his head at her then walked out of the apartment but this time keeping the door open, just standing outside and opening the window to take a smoke as well as tell Chris everything was okay and that he could go home.
His sponsor said a few words of advice to him and patted his shoulder then headed off after taking a smoke with Rave and to make sure the guy was really okay as he said, but he seemed calm enough so that was fine.
Once finishing his smoke he went back inside and walked straight to his room, past Devon's room where Amy now slept in his bed.
On the way he picked up his guitar from the stand and sat down on the bed, leaning his back on the wall and started to play some home made songs, mostly calm ones for now to ease his mind a bit more by singing songs that just popped up in his head.
His voice was soft and gentle as well as his guitar playing was that of an expert. After all he had been playing since he was a child and found the music room at school. That was always the first room he found and always the place he could be found in if not out in the school yard beating people up.

Amy said not anothder word, leaving Rave to his delusions that he knew women. She was too tired to argue and she really didn't care what he thought.
Amy closed the door, bolted it and removed her clothing, with the exception of her underwear before flinging herself on to the bed. For a few moments she lay there crying silently, the tears rolling unheeded down her cheeks. She began to feel cold and pulled the duvet over herself, pulling it over her head to block out the vestiges of noise that Rave was making with his guitar and vocal chords.
After a while she drifted off to sleep. It would be 12 hours or more before she woke unless she was disturbed earlier.
