"Going to try again?" Rhys asked when he made his way back to Rave again. The bar was packed now with the middle class types that came to bars in the middle of the work week to mellow out for a few hours, and maybe hook up with someone other than the SO waiting for them at home.
Whereas Rave had had the counter to himself before he now shared it with about twelve other people, a few of them who were giving him the eye including one button down type with a mustache and a wedding ring. The same guy also tipped Rhys heavily and like to put it directly in Rhys' hand with a little squeeze. Rhys took the money and ignored the rest as he mixed drinks with the ease of the long practiced.
"After all, can't let Sonny and Cher up there have all the glory."
On the small stage a couple was singing 'I've got you Babe' with help from the crowd during the chorus.

"Same bet still on?"
He asked and grabbed the book off the counter and pulled it towards him. He knew he'd seen a song he actually liked to sing in there he just needed to find it.
It took him a moment of looking through the book. There surely was some kind of system in it but he didn't really get it. Was it via letter or by artist? It didn't matter, he found what he was looking for.
"Ah 'ere it is.. numbah G-514"
He said just as 'Sonny' took a bad note but otherwise had done quite good at singing with his friend. Luckily Rave had been able to hide away and not listen to the other songs going through the pub.
" Somethin' like tha' ... don't yoah sing?"
He asked Rhys while acknowledging the fact he liked singing better than be sung to, especially when it came to amateurs singing.
While waiting, Rave flicked his blackberry cell up again and sent a message to Sissy. "Getting up on stage again in a bit. Leaving after ale is out". He sent it and put the cell back in his pocket again and waited his turn.
The bank man of course stepped out and made him winch at the bad tones he took while Rave covered his right ear which was closest to the stage.
"gnh... 'ow many are left aftah this guy befo' I ge' up again?"
He asked Rhys while still holding his right ear.

Rhys shook his head. "I don't sing, I don't dance, I don't do anything but sling drinks and sleep." He said even as he held five beers between his forearm and chest and popped the caps off of them with the other hand in rapid succession.
He pulled the list over after he gave the blonde her tray of Bud Lights and glanced over it. "You'll be on in four. If you're so keen on it, why don't you hit the open mic night over at the cafe. Folks there aren't so tone deaf. They sing for vanity instead of fun."
Which could have been taken as an insult or not, but it was hard to tell if the dark haired bartender meant it as one, or just a simple observation. Not that he left much time for a retort, instead moving down the bar again to deal with more orders.
The green aproned guy was doing a brisk trade in greasy food as well and from a business standpoint the night seemed a success.
His phone jangled and a text from Sissy came through. "Ur wood will be a hose by then, so I guess I'll make out with this chick from Jersey."

"wha' a borin' life yoah must 'ave man.."
Rave said and took a drink of his beer that didn't have too much in it by now. He waited patiently for his round to get up. He was up in four appearances he could deal with that.
"Hey.. wha' the bloody 'ell does tha' mean!?"
He asked as soon as Rhys came back in talking distance so he could clarify the comment of stage and vanity. Rave was vain sure, but when he was on stage he didn't really care as long as he could let his heart bleed into the music.
His phone chirped again and he picked it up to find a new message from Sissy. He smirked then snorted at her remark and sent one back. "You've just fired my wood once luv. If the chick's still there when I'm done.. why don't we play for fun the three of us?" He hit send with a smirk.
Time flew by and there was only one song left to wait for. The girl who stepped up got ready to sing her chosen song whle Rave still waited for Rhys' answer to his question during the three minutes this song would last before Rave was up next.

Rhys didn't respond to the boring remark, but something flickered in his eyes like a dark shape in deep waters.
By the time he came back he must of forgotten what he'd said to Rave because when the Brit asked him "Hey.. wha' the bloody 'ell does tha' mean!?" He shrugged.
"What does what mean?" He asked as Rave's phone went off.
"Funny, that's what her BF said." Texted Sissy. "And it's fun to tease them to break off and text you."
When Rave glanced up from the text Rhys had already moved away and his spot was up. Apparently he'd gotten a few fans, because several of the crowd clapped for him when he got up there.

Rave peered at Rhys, not sure what to make of the behavior or the remark but he decided to let it go for now. After all, he was to take it cool wasn't he? He checked his phone again and smirked. "Dunn care about bf or no, make it a foursome then if you're still at it. I'm up now, ttyl" He hit send and tossed his coat off and handed it over to Rhys again, making sure the guy took care of it before he left. He downed the last of his beer and got of his stool only to get applauds from a few people once he headed to the stage again. When he got up. He grabbed the mic and smirked again while looking out at the people there. He flicked the mic to on and pulled it up to his mouth. "Okay... this time I go' to choose my song myself so, this'll ge' a bit bettah than last time I 'ope" He said and nodded to Rhys to hit the button and start it all. Behind blue eyes started playing with electric guitar. Rave grabbed the mic stand with his right hand, this time the mic in his left hand as he started to sing the lyrics. He let the words fill his heart before he sung them, singing them with pain and agony that suited the song perfectly but also allowing himself to vent some of his own frustration and sorrow in his heart while doing so. The mic stand tilted by his movements so he was visible behind it and not standing with it just in front of his face. Not once did he look at the lyrics, not once did he falter since this was one of his favorite songs that he could relate to with the entire being that was him. No one knows what it's like To be the bad man To be the sad man Behind blue eyes And no one knows What it's like to be hated To be fated to telling only lies
[Chorus:]
But my dreams they aren't as empty As my conscience seems to be I have hours, only lonely My love is vengeance That's never free
No one knows what its like To feel these feelings Like i do, and i blame you! No one bites back as hard On their anger None of my pain and woe Can show through
[Chorus]
No one knows what its like To be mistreated, to be defeated Behind blue eyes No one knows how to say That they're sorry and don't worry I'm not telling lies
[Chorus]
No one knows what its like To be the bad man, to be the sad man Behind blue eyes. When the song ended four minutes later, he had ended up sinking down on the stool again while making a small show of actions and movements to fit to the song, grabbing at his heart sometimes, while dreams he pointed to the ceiling and looking up at it. Sometimes running his hand through his hair depending on what suited to the lyrics. Several other actions as well of course but anything that fit with what he sang to bring out the heart ache to be seen in actions. He lowered the mic when he was done and ended up with his head lowered for a moment yet again while the applauds rained down at him along with whistles and cheering. Rave bowed lightly and pulled the mic to his mouth again. "Tha's it fo' tonight ladies an' gents.." Rave said and placed the mic back on the stand after flicking it off and hopped down from the small stage while some people obviously wanting him to sing more even though he didn't really care.

"Ham." Rhys smirked as he handed back over the coat again when Rave made it back to the bar. "Leaving for the night?" He asked, and made change for Rave, thirty five dollars. The five had a phone number on it. "Don't call that," Rhys said with a head tilt to the hopeful mustached man.
Rhys held out his hand. "Nice talking with you man, keep your wick covered." He said with a genuine grin. "Come back earlier in the day, or come during the weekend. I won't be here, but you can hear some local talent."
A scuffle broke out over by one the corner booths and Rhys' eyes narrowed as he watched it, his hands tensed at his sides, but it was over quickly and he relaxed again.
"Next time you can buy me the beer." He joked.

"tch, anythin' fo' the audience"
He replied with a smirk and took his coat when it was handed back to him and nodded. He took the money that was handed to him and looked down at the five with a quirk until Rhys explained what it was.
"Yoah know wha'... keep the five.."
Rave said and handed it back with not as much as a glance to where Rhys was nodding since he could see the guy in the corner of his eye. He placed the five in Rhys' chest pocket.
"All yoahs"
He said and winked, then rolled his eyes at the covering of wick. What did he think? That he went off doing the naughty without protection? No way. He grabbed Rhys' hand.
"Nice talking to yoah too man. I'll be around.. we'll see who buys who, what"
Rave said with a grin and let go then gave the bartender a wave with the back of his hand while walking away to show that he heard basically what times Rhys would be working and not.
He flicked his phone up and sent one word to Sissy "awake?" Then closed the phone again and walked outside for a smoke. Rave went towards the parking lot and leaned against the wall there and waited to see if Sissy would reply in the near five minutes, if not. He'd probably just go home.
Looking for the smokes in his pocket he soon found them and tapped the bottom of the pack and got one out and placed it to his lips, put the pack down then flicked his zippo lighter up and lit it up while taking a deep drag. The night was quite beautiful even when you were a bit drunk, he thought and let his breath out while he let his hand with the cigarette fall to his side for now.
This, had turned into a good night after all.
